About Miyajima

How far is Itsukushima Shrine from Kinsui Villa?
About 15 minutes walk.
   
Until what time is Itsukushima Shrine illuminated at night?
Until 11:00 pm.
   
Is it possible to walk to the torii gate?
Yes, but only at low tide. Please ask us for the times.
   
What time does Itsukushima Shrine close?
It closes between 17:00 and 18:00, depending on the season. Please ask at reception.
   
How far is the Miyajima Aquarium?
About 30 minutes walk from Kinsui Villa. Please note that the aquarium is currently closed for renovation and will reopen in August 2011.
   
How can I get to the cable car station?
A free shuttle bus leaves at 8:40 every morning from just outside Kinsui Villa. (The time may vary, depending on the season). Otherwise, it is a 40 minute walk.
   
Are there any discount coupons for the cable car or aquarium?
Discount coupons for the Aquarium and Museum of Historical and Folklore Materials are available at the reception. There are no discount tickets for the cable car.
   
What time is the evening cruise to the torii gate, and how much is it?

It leaves from Miyajima Daisan Sanbashi (#3 pier) at:
17:55, 18:35, 19:15, 19:55, 20:35, 21:15
Fee: adult ...1500 yen / 12 years and under... 700yen. Duration approximately 30 minutes.

   
Can you recommend a restaurant for conger eel rice?
We recommend Restaurant Ueno, located on the right side of the street going from JR Miyajima-guchi Station to the Ferry Port.
   
Where can I eat Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki in Miyajima?
At Koumitei near the Miyajima Ferry Terminal; Kurawanka or Momochan at Omotesando Shopping Arcade; Kishibe at Machiya Street, among others.
   
What are some well-known Miyajima souvenirs?
Momiji manju, rice paddles, eel fish cakes, and oysters are famous. At Kinsui Villa, we can arrange delivery of oysters within Japan. Please try Kinsui group’s famous beef or eel buns.
   
Can I drive on Miyajima?
Many roads on the island are closed to cars, and parking spaces are limited at the sightseeing sites. Visitors are encouraged to look around the town on foot.
   
Are there any convenience store on the island?
No. There is a Seven-eleven at Miyajima-guchi on the mainland.

How can I get to Miyajima by car?
You could come by ferry and use our free parking place. However, we recommend that you park at Miyajima-guchi on the mainland (about 2,000 yen per night), and take the ferry as a foot passenger. The ferry fee for a car is 1,500 yen more expensive.
   
How can I get to Hiroshima Station from Miyajima and how long does it take?
Take a ferry from Miyajima to Miyajima-guchi (10 minutes), walk 5 minutes to JR Miyajima-guchi Station, then take a JR train to Hiroshima Station (about 30 minutes).
   
How can I get to Hiroshima Airport and how long does it take?
After arriving at Hiroshima Station (about 50 to 60 minutes from Miyajima Ferry Terminal), take an Airport Limousine bus (1,300 yen, about 50 minutes) to the airport.
   
Please tell me about the ferry timetable.
The last ferry leaves Miyajima-guchi for Miyajima at 22:42 and the first ferry from Miyajima to Miyajima-guchi is at 5:45. Ferries operate every 15 minutes during the day time, but less often in the morning and at night.
   
How far is Kinsui Villa from the Ferry Terminal?
Only 1 minute walk from the terminal building. Just cross the road and go left.

What is the difference between Kinsuikan and Kinsui Villa?
Firstly, at Kinsui Villa, dinners are served in restaurants, whereas they are served in guests’ rooms at Kinsuikan.
Secondly, Kinsui Villa has baths with a panoramic view on the top floor, whereas the baths at Kinsuikan are natural hot-spring.
 
A choice of two types of hotel
 
1. Style
  Kinsuikan - Fashionable inn offering superior food and abundant hot spring water in the spa.
Kinsui Villa – “Your second home on Miyajima” – Comfortable inn offering friendly and informal service.
2. Spa
  Kinsuikan has the only natural hot spring on Miyajima, with traditional cedar bathtubs made with Japanese cedar over two thousand years old.
Kinsui Villa has baths with a panoramic view, said to be the bath with the best view on the island.
3. Rooms
  Kinsuikan has 7 types of room, which were renovated in September 2006 to suit your style.
Kinsui Villa has 5 types of room, which were renovated in March 2009 to provide your home away from home.
4. Cuisine
  Kinsuikan’s original dinner courses, in three different styles, are served in your room.
At Kinsui Villa, a choice of two courses (“Japan Meets West" or Seafood Stew and Beef Rice) is served in informal restaurants.
5. Room Rates

One night stay with dinner and breakfast:
- from 16,500 yen to 39,500 yen at Kinsuikan.
- from 12,000 yen to 24,000 yen at Kinsui Villa.
Breakfast-only rates are also available
6. Location
  Kinsuikan is a 5 minute walk from Miyajima Ferry Terminal, along the sea-front towards Itsukushima Shrine.
Kinsui Villa is just 1 minute from Miyajima Ferry Terminal. Cross the road outside the terminal building and go left.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 10:00.
   
Can I leave my luggage before check-in and after check-out?
Certainly. You can leave your luggage at reception after check-in for the day.
   
Can I send my luggage in advance?
Yes, we can keep it at reception. Please write the day of your arrival on the delivery form.
   
What is provided in the rooms?
We provide cotton kimonos, hand and bath towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and a hair drier.
   
What size cotton kimonos are provided? Do you have one for children?

For adults we have extra large, large, medium and small sizes.
We also have large and small children's sizes. An extra charge will be added for children without meals or bedding.

   
Do you accept guests without a reservation?
You are welcome if there are any vacancies when you visit us.
   
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, most credit cards are accepted. Please ask us for more information.
   
What time is dinner?
Usually dinners are served from 18:00. The latest time is 20:00, at your request.
   
Can I use internet in my room?
 We regret that there is no internet connection in guest rooms. We have a computer corner in the reception area, which is 100 yen for 15 minutes.
   
I am not staying at Kinsui Villa, but can I still use your spa?
Yes, the public bath is open to non-guests from 11:30 to 21:00. Sometimes the bath is reserved for hotel guests, however. Please call and check.
   
Can you send my parcel?
Yes, we can arrange postage at café and shop Maple on the first floor.
